Part-Time ‘Communities on the Edge’ Animators for
Douglas Area
The Southern Uplands
Partnership – Communities On The Edge (COTE) Project seeks
to create sustainable rural jobs in partnership with rural communities
‘on the edge’ of large private land owning Estates.
We want to create a team of part time Community Animators (making
up 1 full time equivalent post) in the Douglas area.
1
x 3 Days per week post
Working with local people and partners to help: develop the
growing / gardening project started at Newmains, create more
opportunities for local women, keep local people informed of
COTE progress and work towards involving more local people in
‘community supported enterprise’ activity.

x 2 Days per week post
Working with local people and partners to help explore opportunities
to create more sustainable rural jobs by developing and managing
community assets in enterprising ways. This will begin with
helping local people to plan, finance and build a new sports
facility as an environmentally sound social enterprise.
You will be enthusiastic,
patient, creative, a good listener, easy to work with and effective
at communicating. You will be keen to see real rural sustainable
development taking place. You would ideally have a good local
knowledge of Douglas.
We can offer a salary of £16.000 - £18,900 (pro
rata) plus 11% pension contribution. We will provide training
and cover travel expenses.
