What is a Sustainable Communities Mentor?

A Sustainable Communities Mentor is someone who encourages their local community to take action to create a more sustainable future.

It doesn’t matter whether you are already active within your community or you have little environmental or community work experience. If you want to get your local community thinking about Sustainability and taking action on Climate Change, becoming a Sustainable Communities Mentor will help to develop your knowledge, skills and confidence.

What’s On Offer?

  • Training to develop your skills, knowledge and confidence
  • Resources and materials to help you to help your community
  • Access to national and local skills sharing and networking events
  • Support and advice
  • Help with travel costs

How long will it take?
A 2 day training workshop on 26th and 27th November at SAC Auchincruive will provide you with the skills and knowledge to:

  • Raise awareness about sustainability and communicate Climate Change in your community
  • Get your community thinking about Sustainability and take action on Climate Change
  • Help your community develop an Action Plan for a Sustainable Community

After that it’s up to you! You’ll know better than anyone how much you need to do to inspire and encourage your own community. We’ll send you regular installments of information and resources and keep in touch to support you.
